Website Cleanup

October 17th, 2008 Adam

Just a quick FYI to let you know that the pages should now load faster, and you may happen across a broken image or two due to my negligence.

Yesterday, I re-did the site’s underlying file structure so that it was actually organized. Prior, all the webpages were in one folder, and had to grab images by grabbing them out of a top-level folder, which increased load times a bit. There were also a few components hosted on other servers, and some filenames were unnecessarily long, or capitalized.

I fixed it all, but may have left a few things out, as I discovered when I visited my blog to find all the images gone from the design. This has been fixed with a couple path updates, but if you find any more, comment here or email me, please.

Microsoft’s $300 Million Message

September 19th, 2008 Adam

As most of you I’m sure know by now, Microsoft has shelled out $300,000,000 to revitalize the company in the eyes of consumers. Their attempts have generally been panned by bloggers, twitterers, and journalists alike. In my opinion, though, they didn’t do as badly as bloggers, or even Microsoft, thought. New Dropbox Revised Icon Set

May 24th, 2008 Adam

Recently released into private beta was the phenomenal piece of software, Dropbox, which allows speedy and seamless folder syncing over the internet. I find it an invaluable addition to my Mac, but unfortunately, it’s icons stick out a bit. But wait… I make icons. Problem solved.

This pack of icons does three things, all independently available for you to pick and choose.

1) Changes the icon of Dropbox to a more Mac-like look

2) Changes the menu bar icon to a black and white one that fits in better. While it transfers, it turns blue to alert you.

3) For those of you that installed Colorful Leopard, I have made a dropbox folder icon that fits in with the Colorful Leopard theme. It also has a small version that appears in the Leopard Sidebar that fits with the rest of the sidebar icons.

This icon set is all about fitting in. Check it out in the Portfolio!

Hey Look! Its… Another Design!

May 16th, 2008 Adam

It was the last day of February that this website moved from Freewebs to our own hosting, and I gave it a whole new Wordpress design. As you know if you are reading this, I’ve changed the design again. I feel that I’ve finally achieved what I want in my site.

The first iteration of this site that I was actually proud of was similar to the one you see now, except the background was translucent white atop green grass. While I liked the look, it lacked a certain professionalism and practicality. When I moved the site to the new domain, I decided to completely revamp it. What emerged was on the other end of the spectrum. Very practical, and while it was nice, it wasn’t attractive to me.

This third iteration of the site stems from how much I like the first version, while instead using black, which I feel lends a more mature and professional air. The new site is structured so that you can get to what you want without dealing with anything else. No need to see the blog if you really just want the portfolio, no need to look at Photos when you wanted Logos. The homepage greets you with four choices, and you choose one. Simple and elegant. Just the way I like it.

Please be brutally honest and tell me what you think! Sound off in the comments below!

Sarah Lacy was Owned.

March 13th, 2008 Adam

Dear Sarah Lacy,

I would have felt sorry for you. But I all could do was feel sorry for Mark Zuckerberg, no matter how horrible Facebook is, it could never live up to that interview. You cut him off, you blabbed about your own book, you pretended like you two were best of pals. Then when it became apparent that you sucked, you yelled at the audience. Then you had the guts to say that you thought it went WELL? You’re not all you crack yourself up to be.

And by the by, Upstart Blogger is giving away a MacBook Air and five iPhones. Worth a look.
