Upending the linear picture book.

“Mischief” is a hand-bound book combining digital illustrations with hand bookbinding techniques. It features some custom cutout pages that allow various levels of the snowy landscape to bleed through, bringing some depth and interactivity to the book form.

The digital illustrations focus on a limited color palette, bringing the main child character to the focus against a cold yet cozy winter background. The wordless story is basic but laid out in such a way that encourages the reader to flip back and forth throughout the narrative to piece things together and view the story from new angles and perspectives.
