In 2020, I was living near a terrible intersection crying out for safety measures and beautification. Though I didn't have a degree in urban planning, I had communication and illustration skills and web development knowledge.
I put them to work making an interactive website visually explaining how some changes to the intersection could make it work better for everyone.
I circulated the website on Twitter, in the neighborhood subreddit, and to local elected officials and the Department of Transportation, and I'm proud to say most of my suggestions were implemented!
